Announcing 2nd New Orleans Historical Tour

August 13 2015 | Blog

After great success and positive feedback from our new and improved daily Historical Cruise, the Paddlewheeler Creole Queen will be offering the cruise twice a day starting Monday, August 17, 2015.

Since revamping the cruise in May, guests have enjoyed the lively narration by our costumed reenactors who are experts in all things New Orleans, its history, and the monumental battle that took place at the Chalmette Battlefield, which the boat visits on each Historical Cruise. Once reaching the Chalmette Battlefield, part of the Jean Lafitte National Park and Preserve, National Park Rangers will lead guests on a guided tour of the site of the Battle of New Orleans. On Sundays and Mondays, our historical guides will lead the tour.

Guests will have the choice of taking the morning cruise which begins boarding at 9:30 a.m. and sailing at 10:00 a.m. or the afternoon cruise which boards at 1:30 p.m. and sails at 2:00 p.m. Our reenactor will regale passengers with the history of the founding of New Orleans, the Battle of New Orleans, and how the city has evolved throughout the years.

The Historical Cruise is a great way to become familiar with the history of New Orleans while experiencing its present day culture, with the best views of the city, delicious Creole cuisine and refreshing cocktails. Visitors staying downtown or in the French Quarter have convenient access to the boarding dock, right on the riverfront where Poydras Street meets the river. This cruise is a perfect New Orleans activity for any visitor or local, history buffs and school groups.

As always, we will still offer our signature Dinner Jazz Cruise every night with a new time starting at 6:00 p.m.
